Bulleh Shah - 1680 - 1757

Bulleh Shah (1680-1757)  was a Punjabi Sufi  mystic and universalist  who cast a long shadow across Punjab, Pakistan and present day Afghanistan.  This is a popular composition in the Punjabi language rendered in semi-classical style in the distinctive qawaali form. Bulleh Shah wrote his compositions in both Shahmukhi (script of the Kings) and Gurmukhi (script of the Sikh Gurus).

This video composition which is rendered in two parts by the Wadali Brothers starts off with a verse from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib.  Also presented are a wonderful collage of   Sufi images.
